Digital Pedagogy Solutions Trains 107 Teachers Across 3 States on Computer-Based Testing

Digital Pedagogy Solutions (DPS), an education technology organization, has concluded a 2-day regional training workshop aimed at equipping secondary school teachers with practical skills for Computer-Based Examinations (CBT).

The workshop ran in phases between July 2nd and July 21st, 2026 across six designated workshop centres in Kaduna, Sokoto, and Gombe States.

A total of 107 secondary school teachers participated, comprising 48 from public schools and 59 from private schools.

The workshops were held at:
- Kaduna: Madarasatu Maryam Secondary School, Government College Kaduna
- Sokoto: GDSS Kofar Rini, Essential International Sch. Sokoto
- Gombe: GDSS 11, Nuraini Integrated School

What the Training Covered
Facilitated by a team of experienced educational technology resource persons, the hands-on sessions focused on:
- Preparation, administration, marking, and processing of CBT in school settings
- Google Forms as a practical, cost-effective platform for digital question design
- Automated answer key configuration, real-time response tracking, score computation via spreadsheets, and secure result management

The methodology included presentations, guided demonstrations, practical exercises, interactive discussions, and Q&A sessions.

The goal, according to the report, was to bridge the gap between conventional paper-based testing and modern digital assessment techniques, and to align school internal testing with upcoming national e-examination standards such as WAEC, NECO, and JAMB.

Immediate Impact
The training recorded immediate results. One participating institution has already resolved to adopt CBT for its upcoming 3rd Term Examinations through a two-subject pilot program. Organizers say the sessions "successfully demystified computer-based testing and boosted teacher confidence".

Key Challenges Identified
Despite the success, the report flagged several critical institutional challenges:
1. Unreliable grid electricity lacking alternative backup power
2. Severe deficits in computer hardware relative to large student populations
3. Training some participants on mobile devices rather than standard desktop computers

Recommendations for Sustainability
To ensure long-term and seamless expansion of school-based CBT, DPS recommended:
- Targeted infrastructure upgrades: alternative power installations and computer laboratory expansions
- Standardization of desktop training environments
- Hands-on technical support for pilot school rollouts
- Structured participant welfare in future workshop logistics

About DPS
Digital Pedagogy Solutions is focused on integrating technology into education to prepare schools for digital assessment frameworks.

The full report notes that addressing these key areas will enable schools across the region to "successfully institutionalize secure, efficient, and future-ready digital assessment frameworks".
